New Changes, New Body??

Yesterday, Mike and I kicked off the P90X with a fitness test. Not to bore you will all the results, here are a few of mine:

Vertical - 14 inches
Push up (on the toes) - 25
Bicep Curls - 20 @ 10 lbs in each hand
Total amount of calories needed for this program each day - 2,196!

I went to the store last night and bought 'good food'. Last night, we splurged on McDonald's one last time... good bye fries....

I also cooked breakfast and lunch last night! (I was up late). After looking at the 'menu' P90X suggested, Mike and I have come up with a way to 'tweak' it. We refuse to throw away any food that we have already bought just because it is not on 'the menu'. We will incorporate it in moderation. I have cut out all soda (not that I drank very much) and all coffee. Mike can't cut out the soda cold turkey, so he has cut back to one a day (and for anyone who knows him, he is a soda hound!)

Today breakfast was a mushroom omelet with a side of fresh strawberries. The omelet called for 6 egg whites, 3/4 cup of mushrooms sliced, 2 tablespoons of green onions, salt and pepper to taste, 1 1/2 oz of cheese, and tomatoes. For those who really know me, I'm not a tomato kind of person so I left that out. I also really don't care for mushrooms, so I cut them into small pieces.

My feeling on the breakfast - no good! I was starving this morning, and I think that is the only reason I forced myself to eat it!! ha ha. I also got a call from Mike saying, "I appreciate you staying up and cooking for me, but it was not good at all!" ha ha!!! I guess we'll be crossing that off the menu!

The program also calls for a protein bar between breakfast and lunch. Because I have never eaten protein bars, I bought a few different brands/flavors to test them out. Today I'm trying Odwalla's chewy nut bar - Sweet & Salty Almond. I've been warned that protein bars are not very good tasting, so we'll see!
For lunch, we are having a salad with strawberries, slices of turkey and ham, with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I don't see how you can go wrong with that!

Tonight is the first work out DVD.

Also, tonight, I'm meeting with another florist for the wedding. Let's hope this meeting goes well and I can cross that off the wedding To Do List!

P90X

Today is the official start to the P90X program. Mike and I agreed to do this together in preparation for the wedding (less than four months left!)

We are going to take pictures of day 1, day 30, day 60, and day 90. I'm not going to post pictures until I have a before and after. Who would want to see just a before picture??!!

Today, we will complete a fit test to see where we are starting from. I'll be sure to post those results. My plan is to keep the blog updated on our progress - hopefully that will also keep me motivated for the full 90 days. I've heard from several that this program is not to be taken lightly, and I'm actually really excited about that.

There is also a nutrition plan that comes with the program. I've reviewed the materials and they give you a meal plan that is easy to follow with recipes. The hard part for me will be getting the food and preparing it every night for the next day. I went ahead and bought a 'lunch bag' so that I can pack my lunch for work each night.

I'm excited for the next 90 days - lets just hope it doesn't kill me!!

Wedding Favors

The results are in!!!

When asked last week what your opinion was on wedding favors, here's what you said:

It is a must - 0
I could go either way... - 7
I never take one with me when I leave - 6

Looks like wedding favors may get cut off the list!!

Thank you to everyone (all 13) who voted!

Wedding Favors.

Are wedding favors a must??

While planning for the wedding, I have tried to come up with a wedding favor idea, and I'm stuck. Do people really care?? Wedding favors aren't cheap! Some advice was to have wedding favors for each couple, but how do you control that? Create a sign that says 'One per couple'??

I have decided to have a poll and get reader's opinions.

I'll wait until Friday for the final results! Thanks in advance for helping out!

Peg Board

A while back I had blogged about my craft room and wanting to make it so much better!!

I made a peg board that holds my crafts - that way, they don't take up space on my workstation!

Here are the parts that I used:
Peg Board (Home Depot cut this for me to the size that I needed)
Trim (again, Home Depot cut these)
Spray Paint
Screws (I forgot to take a picture, but I'm sure you know what they look like!)
Hooks for the peg board
**One of the packs of 'pegs' that I purchased had several different types of hooks. It even included screws and spacers to hang the board - see below for more info on spacers**

Originally, I was going to cut the corners at angles like a picture frame. Well lets say it worked better in my mind than in real life! I don't have all the proper tools, and I was trying to make a circular saw work.... and as you can see - it didn't!

That's when I came up with Plan B!

After a quick trip to Home Depot again, I purchased these wood blocks that are used for decorations. I think they cost me $1.50 for each one. Not bad at all!

**Note that the trim pieces are not screwed in yet. They were just cut to size**

Before spray painting, be sure to lightly sand the peg board! I found out that if you don't, the paint can easily scratch off. I set up a station outside for the spray painting. I chose this wonderful sea green color. Love it!

I spray painted two coats. After the paint dried, I placed the board upside down on two sawhorses. I clamped the trim pieces up to the edge, then screwed them to the board. Then, I did the same thing for the corner pieces.

Tada! Final product!! Now time to hang....

Here are those spacers that I mentioned. These came in the packet of hooks. The black spacer goes behind the peg board. I screwed the board to the wall with these behind it. It gives the board just enough room to put your pegs in without hitting the wall.

**The next few pictures were taken with my camera phone... It made the pictures a yellow color. Sorry***

Can you see all that stuff that was sitting on my work station!!!

Everything is up! Looks so good! The picture doesn't do it justice!

Tonight, I decided to be productive on the wedding. The plan was to make a list of everything that still needed to be done. I have a 'wedding book' that holds all of our information, but I also purchased a composition book to write out lists. (For those who don't know - I am very much a list maker!)

Here is what I found:

My dog decided to have a snack!

Several of the pages are stuck together by saliva - I'm thinking I'm gonna have to toss it and get another. hey - It was only $1.00 at the Dollar store.

Here's a look on the inside:

Agh!!!

New toy!

Earlier this week, my mother found these nail polish strips on clearance, and decided to give them a try. Her 'polish' was a french manicure, and has worn hers all week. Currently, she has not had any chips in the 'polish'! Even after hard work in the yard, washing dishes, etc. She was nice enough to buy me a set this morning. and yes - I put them on at work!!!

Here is the package. I've never heard of this company, but they seem to make good stuff!

The package comes with 20 strips - 10 different sizes so you can find the one that fits your finger the best. Here's what one strip looks like:

For the french manicure, you pull the white off first. Here's what it looks like:

Stick it to the top of your finger with the extra hanging off. You then fold it over your nail and file your nail.

When you file your nail, it 'cuts' the nail polish which pulls off easily.

You then take the beige color strip and put it over your whole finger nail.
Fold it over and file again.

Here's the final product! No drying time on these puppies! I'm curious to see how long they last!

RIP Old Flip Phone

While playing with my new phone yesterday, I realized that I can take pictures, e-mail them to myself, then post them on the blog!
(or e-mail them to someone, etc).

I decided to take a few pictures of my old phone that finally
croaked the other day:

Hello long lost friend!

So it was brought to my attention that I've been ignoring my blog recently... and it's true! I simply haven't found time to blog!

Yesterday, I told Lindsey (Who I believe is my only blog follower who looks forward to my posts) that I would blog about the craziness that has been occurring in my life!

Well, things did not go like I had planned yesterday. I skipped the gym so that I could go to the mall and find a wedding outfit for Mike. During my shopping, I dropped my phone and really broke it...... : ( So unexpectedly, I had to make a trip to Verizon and get a new one.

I can now say that I'm a part of the new technology world! I have upgraded to a smart phone - a BlackBerry Storm to be exact.
This phone is all touch screen which I was very excited about! I know, I'll be addicted!

Other exciting news to blog about:
The making of the wedding invitations
My Bridal Shower
The Peg Board that I made
The 'talks' with the florist for the wedding

I'm sure I have much more to post, but for now, I have to go back to work!!
